"Mind.  A beautiful servant but a dangerous master" ~ Osho

Establishing trust has been the key to my success and I have built and shaped my reputation around the fundamental belief that everyone deserves an accomplished, highly-resourced and determined ally who can walk their talk and champion them when life inevitably gets tough.  I work collaboratively to mobilise your strengths and resources to empower you to solve your own problems and my overall goal is to ensure every client is able to establish a sense of mastery over their own mind.

My immersive energy and total engagement brings a unique approach to traditional therapy.  Together we apply mindfulness and cutting edge scientific techniques to reframe negative thinking and behaviours.  Our sessions go deep into your core belief system, and it is at this layer we achieve lasting emotional and behavioural change.

"Self belief, self trust and self worth all start with self" ~ Mind Worthy

My experience...

Hi I'm Jay.  I qualified (with honours) in CBT/REBT therapy (a combination of cognitive therapy and behavioural psychotherapy) at CCBT, Regents University.  My experience extends to clients both at my London clinics and around the world, through my online practice.   I am registered on the NHS Choices approved listing for accredited therapists and counsellors, www.welldoing.org.

Research studies:  I'm completing an MSc in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health with The Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN) at Kings College London.  I am a member of the National Counselling Society.

Clinical expertise:  I have a strong background using integrative and person-centred therapeutic approaches.  I also work at a private rehabilitation clinic in Notting Hill where I support clients with drug, alcohol, gambling, co-dependancy and food addictions. Here we apply cutting edge intervention techniques in addiction treatment by facilitating group therapy and psycho educational workshops.

More recently, I partnered with Battersea Yoga and Wellness Studio as their dedicated Self-Empowerment Therapist.  Here I provide regular seminars, workshops as well as private therapy sessions.

My previous experience includes one of the largest and most well established mental health service providers in the UK, the Priory clinic.

Speaking events: GOOGLE, Battersea Wellness, as well as regular workshops in drug and alcohol centres.

My journey...

...I moved from a successful career in financial economics within investment management to pursue my passion in this field.  I’ve experienced firsthand the angst involved in changing mindset and tackling fear.  The process of change fundamentally began with insight into my thoughts, beliefs and ultimately my actions. By addressing these, I was able to transform my life.

My personal journey, education and experience informs the way I connect to, understand and ultimately help people facilitate lasting emotional and behavioural change.

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit" ~ Aristotle

I help you to identify and change strong beliefs (negative thinking patterns, expectations and personal rules) that often cause emotional distress. To help you gain perspective I work by identifying and distilling problems into smaller parts. In this way you learn the toolkit to become self aware and, as a result of our sessional work, empowered.  This is a highly successful strategy for tackling and managing multiple areas of your life. Here's why:

  • self-aware people make conscious decisions that enhance their lives. My role is to help you build the practice into your daily life.

  • building upon self awareness we establish personal empowerment. In order to achieve your goals we will work together in adjusting your thoughts, behaviours and actions.

I am a passionate advocate for mindfulness and regularly interweave this into the work.  My overall aim is to help you develop self-trust and become your own therapist.

Choosing professional guidance can be a minefield given it is such a personal process. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.  I would be happy to talk to you in confidence and without obligation.

I have successfully treated a wide range of problems including, but not limited to:

  • Emotional problems; including anxiety, depression, hurt, guilt, shame, anger, jealousy and envy

  • Relationship issues; including workplace stress

  • Addictions; including drug, alcohol, gambling, gaming, self harm, co-dependency and food addictions

  • Lack of confidence and low self esteem

  • Finding the motivation to make sustainable changes

  • Bereavement and loss

  • Spiritual crisis or loss of meaning in life

Free initial consultation...

I see it very much as a part of my job to help people with all aspects of the challenges they face – including seeking appropriate guidance – which can often be lonely and daunting.  I offer a free 20 minute initial telephone consultation where we can briefly discuss why you are seeking support and how I might be able to help you.  Please click here to book.

How many sessions...

After an initial assessment I would discuss the number of sessions required.  Whilst this varies, the average number of sessions for optimal outcomes usually ranges from 8 - 20.

Sessions are 50 minutes and are also available via telephone, Skype or FaceTime if you are an international client or unable to attend in person.

What to expect...

Therapy is a journey of developing self awareness to help you to tackle all sorts of behavioural, emotional and relational difficulties.  If you have never sought professional guidance before, it is normal to feel apprehensive and unsure what to expect. At our first appointment I will ask questions to understand what’s troubling you and how you are feeling. Successive sessions involve exploring your core belief systems where we make change. Results will come by practising the skills and strategies learnt into your everyday life, which we will begin together in our sessions.

Cost of therapy...

Therapy is a financial commitment. It’s an investment in yourself and your ability to become aware of self-sabotaging patterns and more capable of practicing new, more effective thoughts and behaviours.  If you’re like most people I work with, you’ve likely already invested a lot of time and energy and money into your education, your career, your home, etc. I truly believe that therapy is a continued investment in your overall wellbeing and success in life.

In her sessions there is no airy-fairy mucking around; she works quickly and effectively to identify and deeply understand contributing factors to low/poor self esteem.  She is a practitioner who really gets to the root of a problem and teaches you how to eliminate or mould your thoughts, and actions to change your world. Elora, Director. Sydney
